"What's so cool about manufacturing in Pennsylvania?" That's a question students across the state are asking after winning top honors in the "What's So Cool About Manufacturing" student video contest, PennLive.com reports.
The contest, put on by the Manufacturers Resource Center, encourages students to explore careers in manufacturing, and Broughal Middle School in Northampton County took top honors this year with a video about Weaver Popcorn.
Greater Johnstown High School in Cambria County took second place with a video about JWF Industries, and Bangor Area Middle School in Northampton County took third with a video about Martin & Co., Inc.
The winning videos, which were chosen by a panel of judges from a total of 155 entries, feature companies like JWF and Creative Composites Group.
"Congratulations to the winners, and every student team that submitted a video this year," says Rick Siger, secretary of the state's Department of Community and Economic Development.
"The talent and creativity our young people have displayed in creating these videos is amazing, and it makes me very confident about the future of Pennsylvania manufacturing."
