"Not a lot of experiences allow youth to have that kind of power."
So says Miralisa Trivedi, one of 13 high school students in Boulder County, Colo., who as part of the Community Foundation Boulder County's 15 Forever program recently distributed $41,100 in grants to six nonprofits working to support youth mental health.
The grants were awarded after a thorough review process that involved 28 applicants, reports the Daily Camera.
The teens, who raised the money through donor outreach and fundraising, chose to focus their efforts on youth mental health "through mitigating negative impacts of social media, combating substance abuse, and amplifying efforts towards suicide prevention," according to a press release.
