The county of Quinte in eastern Canada has come up with a novel way to fund community projects: selling beer.
The idea is to raise money through the sale of Molson Canadian beer, which has a strong presence in the region, reports the Canadian Press.
The Prince Edward County Foundation has set up a website where people can apply for grants to fund everything from cooking classes to a seniors' camp.
"It's a great way to raise money, but it's also a great way to be part of the community," says the president of the foundation.
"It's a very small percentage of the money, but it's a good way to be part of the community."
So far, the foundation has raised about $17,000.
