It's that time of year again, when students at Penn State take to the stage for the school's 47-hour "THON" marathon to raise money for children's cancer research.
This year's event kicked off Friday and runs through Sunday at the Bryce Jordan Center, PennLive.com reports.
More than 5,000 students are expected to take part, with the goal of raising $1 million for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Health Children's Hospital.
It's the largest student-run philanthropic event in the world, according to a press release, and more than $1 million was raised last year.
The marathondubbed "the longest dance in the world" by someis said to be the biggest fundraiser of the year for kids' cancer research, PennLive.com reports.
Last year's THON raised more than $1.5 million, according to the press release.
