If you're looking for a cause to donate to, there's a good chance you're not going to find one that's close to your heart.
According to a Forbes survey, the top reason people don't give to nonprofits is because they don't know how their donations are being used.
Other reasons include: They don't want to give in an uncertain economy; they don't want to be asked; and they don't want to be made to feel like they're making a big difference.
"Donors want to feel relevant to your mission's success," Forbes explains.
"They want to know how their gift made a program possible, helped a constituent, or was invested in a longer-term goal."
There are a number of ways to improve donor retention, including: Thank your donors quickly and personally.
Offer diverse giving options, such as recurring giving.
Ask them to volunteer.
Offer them a tour of your programming.
Increase transparency.
Include your high-level volunteers in thank-you videos, and share impact data and testimonials from your constituents.
Involve your high-level volunteers in thank-you videos, and share when you have a miss or are at risk of canceling something important, and why
