"My project centers on giving the millions of young Latin American women who want equality but are unaware of how to achieve it the tools to break apart from antiquated roles and end the cycle of violence through financial education," says Catherine Mellett Felix.
So says the 17-year-old from New York City, who has been named a 2023 Prudential Emerging Visionary for her efforts.
She'll receive a $5,000 award to help take her idea to the next level and attend an all-expenses-paid trip to Prudential Financial's Newark, NJ, headquarters for a three-day summit in April, where she'll get coaching, skills development, and networking opportunities with Prudential employees and other young leaders, per a press release.
As a grand prize winner, she'll present her solution to a panel of judges in a pitch-off for $10,000 funding.
